Hey Richard,
An engine needs three things to run...(assuming all internals are good)..
1. A timed spark
2. Adequate compression
3. Proper fuel/air ratio
Eliminate one at a time..then you will know why its not running.. and you can further troubleshoot the issue...(this is how a professional troubleshoots)
look for the starter(up top sitting over transmission) and have someone hit it (not too hard)with a hammer while key is held in the crank position,if car starts you will have to ck connections at starter ,if ok you need another starter, reman starters of any age are never as good as the originals, just not cost effective to buy brand new,too expensive!
Had same problem. Get manual diagram for starter assembly from manualspace.com. Tap starter assembly sticking out driver side of engine block with ballpeen hammer, or similar small hammer. Try a few times. Probably will restart, but need to replace starter assembly. Aloha!
The inlet air temp sensor is part of the Mass Airflow Sensor, it is located between the engine intake manifold and the air filter box, on the air tube. Easy to get to, unplug it and remove 2 screws.
If you are referring to the vehicle having a "Timing Belt", no, it does not have one.
The 2002 Camry 4 cylinder has a Timing CHAIN, and does not need to be replaced.
my solution is for all cars and not specifically for a camry.
remove the positive wire of the battery. remove all the wires attached to the starter. take note on where you took them off. remove all the bolts holding the starter. remove the starter.
do the reverse on installation. last thing to do is put back the positive wire of the battery.
The 2002 and the 2007 radio connections are markedly different. Remember that the 2007's are "satellite ready"; this changes the back side wiring configurations dramitically.
