First off i have a 1990 rs v6 camaro tuneport.ill begain with how it all started, i ran the battery down, then for some reason i had to replace a jumper in the security system, and it all went down hill from there. now, setting there ideling its turning 3 grand in drive, and between 3000 and 3500 in park. i replaced: fuel pump, fuel filter in tank, ignition module, both coils, suposed to of had the distributer rebuilt, but not sure if the shop done it, cause when i removed the cap to replace the ignition module the roter and everything had rust on it. but also i replaced the o2 sensor, map sensor, other little things. but for one, when the mechanic put the coils in, there supposed to be grounded to the block, and he left them loose for a bit while we continued to troubleshoot. but wasnt drove with them loose, just fired up a couple times. but the rpms run that high idoling but driving 35mph it turns 4500 rpms. and itll redline every time before changing gears. and if you floor it it revs up to much and goes no where. it will not even powerstall in gravel. and for some reason when the car is turned off, the tach still reads 3000 rpms.

Try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes or so, press the brake pedal with the battery disconnected. after 5 minutes reconnect the battery and start the car, DO NOT TOUCH THE THROTTLE/ gas pedal for about 5 minutes. perhaps this will recalibrate the computer. good luck, hope this helps

I ran out of gas then i put gas in the car .now it want start .1996 camaro v6 3800 rs

You may have to "cycle" the ignition switch a few times to get fuel up to the fuel rails. Make sure the battery is fully charged. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position (do not start yet). Listen to see if you can hear the fuel pump running. If you can hear it, turn the key of and wait about 15 seconds and turn the key to the RUN position again. Repeat this step one more time, the turn the ignition to START.

If you cannot hear the fuel pump running when you turn the key on, then you most likely lost your fuel pump when you ran out of gas. This is pretty common - especially if the fuel pump has a lot of miles on it. If this is the case, then you will have to replace your fuel pump.

92 RS Camaro, Replaced battery and now car has no power?

are your battery post bolts clean and tight, my 89 rs ran fine untill i decided i wanted shiny new battery bolts, when i put them in and tightened them down my car had no power at all, i checked how tight they were, and they were TIGHT so i wiggled the black cable and re tightened it and bam my lights turned on, tryied starting it, and it started, sometimes you just gotta make sure the connection is really good, not just how tight it is, also check your ground wires, there are a few but the main 2 are located at the front pass side next to the batt, and on the back firewall going from the bottom pass head to the firewall, hope that helps, if not comment back
