Make sure the tail lights and brake lights are working including the one in the rear window, if any of these are out the dash warning light will stay on, any bulbs that look discolored should be replaced
Ive had the triangle warning light on with message saying check running lights, after spending about 2hrs today checking connections and bulbs it would appear that after changing tail light bulbs on both rear clusters and both stop and tail bulbs the problem has now gone

Horn will be located in the drivers side fender. Thank you for using fixya.
There is no sensor. The lamp module monitors bulbs. Check the connector on the rear bulb carrier. The ground wires like to corrode and melt the plastic.
There is an issue with the rear tail lamp bulb holders. BMW knows about this problem and released an updated part. Basically the bulb is not held tight enough, and occasinally loses contact with the holder. Your car should still be under warranty and any local BMW dealer should have the parts in stock.
These are Dual Function Bulbs. They control the Parking Lights and the Brake Lights. This Bulb is Burnt out on the Brake Coil inside the Bulb. I have actually seen Bulbs that were Bad But you could not Tell by jast looking at them. It should be fine with a New Bulb. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!
