The fact you can tell the fuel from the brown fluid, tells me they have seperated. This would mean the brown fluid is water. If this is a recent problem you may have got a bad batch of gas, if you did, change
the fuel filter and let the lines drain. Try and catch
the fuel from the tank in a glass jar(1/2 pint or so)and
let stand for about 15min and see if it seperates(water on bottom) if you have alot more gas, hook up
the new filter, put in a couple of cans of dry gas and
fill with fresh gas. Hope this helps. Good luck

How do I know if my fuel pump is bad? my 97 intrepid will turn over but won't start.

If you spray starting fluid in throttle body and it starts, you have a fuel related issue. If you hook up a gauge to the rail and the pressure is within spec, it doesn't always mean the pump is good. You may have the pressure but not the volume needed to stay running. It'll run but you'll have drivability problems and or stalling. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Dies when you let off the gas to slow down....

I had this same problem on my 1997 intrepid. Turned out to be a dirty idle air control motor and needed throttle body cleaning. IAC motor is located as part of the air intake. Remove the two bolts holding it one and spray it down good with throttle body cleaner, let it dry and reinstall.

2000 dodge intrepid wont stay running

Have fuel pressure tested in both situations. I've seen fuel pumps quit once they get heated up, then when they cool, pump again. Perhaps try WD40 sprayed in to throttle body inlet when no start, and that will tell you if it's a fuel delivery problem. Just remove air cleaner intake hose at front of throttle body, and open throttle and spray for a second or 2 then try to start. If it fires up and runs for a second or 2, then it's a lack of fuel issue.

Throttle sticking on 2001 dodge intrepid

I would spray some WD-40 on the throttle cable, also, you may need to clean the throttle body and throttle plate, sometimes there will be some carbon build up that will make the throttle plate stick in the throttle body, Gumout and an old toothbrush works good.

I dont know too much about cars but i have a 97 dodge intrepid and i have been trying to get it to start it use to run really well now i have tried to crack it and i get nothing out of it the radio turns...

If you have a spark tester, plug it into a spark plug then place the spark plug wire on the other end. Have someone to turn the engine over while you watch for spark. If you have spark, now you can make another test. Spray some ether into the air intake or throttle body, you might have to take the air intake line going to the throttle body off to gain access to the throttle body, but after spraying the ether into the intake, try to start it...if it attempts to start, your problem is fuel related, you stated that you didn't have much knowledge about cars, so at this point you will need to decide whether you want us to try to talk you through it or, get a qualified mechanic to work on it for you.

My '99 Intrepid won't run. Replaces the throttle

looks like your intrepid has what is know as a driveability problem
1. electric fuel pump is failing
2. injectors are mis-firing due to clogs: 1 or more has failed
3. someone has been naughty and dumped something in your fuel tank while you slept

Location of Position Sensor in 1997 Dodge intrepid 3.5?

If your talking throttle position sensor, look at front of throttle body with air intake hose off, and see throttle plate in front, has a shaft going through it, your throttle position sensor is on the end of that shaft & will have a wiring connector to it. Who said it needs a new one?

1997 Dodge Intrepid stalling

My car did the same thing and it was the altanater. I most likely spelled that wrong. So if you haven't got it fixed yet you should take it in and get it checked. It only takes 10 min and they can tell you what it is. Good Luck.
