My daughters 2004 Pontiac Sunbird with the 2.2 ocassionaly wont start. She said when this no start condition happens the car turns over but sounds funny. It idles and runs out great. I have heard it hot and cold start and it started rite up every time. Her friend that heard the car when it wouldnt start said it sounded like a timing belt issue?? Any ideas?? If it were a timing belt issue wouldnt it do it all the time? Is there any way of checking the timing belt?

It would not run good at all if it was the timing belt. In fact it probably wouldn't even start at all. It sounds more like loose bolts on the starter or the tension pully that keeps the serpentine belt tight. That one has to be replaced.

2005 Pontiac sunbird has black gritty oil

sounds like possible lifter ticking due to lack of service. offer to pay for an oil change and drive the car for a couple of days to see if ticking noise quietens down. if it doesn't you may be looking at replacing the lifters.

My key doesn't turn in the ignition, its automatic and the shifter and wheel wont move either. Everything is locked how do I unlock it? help pls?

If turning the steering wheel to the left or right doesn't allow the key to turn, it sounds like your tumblers in the lock cylinder have failed. Unfortunately, there is no way to know when this is going to happen, but eventually, it happens. Not a real expensive fix. Replace the ignition/lock cylinder.

93 pontiac sunbird. Ign.ken in on position and is stuck in that position. Can't turn to start or to turn off to remove key.

Is the column round or square? I think 1993 is round. Sounds like the ignition lock cylinder needs replaced.

My 92 sunbird will run untill it starts to get warm and then just dies. I when I try to start it after it dies and the car will just keep turning over and wont start. it sounds like the fuel pump doesn;t...

thers a oil psi senser that wont let the fuel pump run at low psi when the car worms the psi gos down ,the fuel rely only runs the pump for about five sec as a primer then the oil psi senser takes over thirs a plug righi behind the oil fliter for the senser ,un plug it and put ajumper wire across it as a test ,you may need a oil pump
