Leave the battery disconnected for a while, 20 min to make sure it resets the computer. If the light is still on then there in an ongoing fault that is getting tripped and turning on the check engine light. Go to an autozone or local autoparts store, they will check it and erase it for you for free.....OBDII scanners aren't cheap.

Neither of these are good. Basically means that you ECM/PCM is fried or losing connection (this is the computer that controls everything about the car)....hopefully it is just a loose wire or connection. You can reset the ECM and reset it to factory settings, which can fix some issues. Especially if you have done any upgrades to the auto....but for a 2005, I would raise all holy hell with the dealership that you bought it from....you may have to purchase a new ECM, but make them put it in for you. It shouldn't have gone bad, they are made to last.

Hello. You can take your car to several auto parts stores and AAMCO stores which offer a free scan and reset. OR you can disconnect the battery to reset the check engine light. Regards, Joe

thank you i disconnected the battery and it did work.. it still doesn't give the reason why it came on in the 1st place but it worked..
