Need repair manual for 1999 Pontiac Montana

Hello, I am looking for a repair manual for my 1999 Montana. I need to replace the head gaskets. I have been looking at the Chilton's & Haynes books, but also some of the repair manuals offered on CD & DVD. I am looking for a manual that will show details of the engine. How do I know what gaskets or items (in addition to the head gaskets) I should replace while I have the heads off ? Also, I have been reading several sites that recommend using an aftermarket head gasket that has the metal on both top & bottom, and also replacing the head bolts with an aftermarket because the torque is greater on the aftermarket vs standard GM. Thanks for your help.

I would recommend the MITCHELL'S Online Manuals. Go to www.mitchell.1.com and you can get a single subscription for about $10. When I had my own repiar shop I had te complete set of Mitchell's. Very complete and just a good as the factory repair manuals (maybe better). I especially liked the wiring diagrams. Very complete.
Good Luck. . . . . BTW, you SHOULD replace the head bolts regardless of which type of gasket you use. Once they are torqued, they shouldn't be used again.

My 99 Pontiac Montana Keeps running Hot.I replace the thermostat , Coolant Sensor..Is It possible that the water pump Is Bad?

The radiator may be plugged or the head gasket can let compression gasses into the radiator . To check, run the engine without the radiator cap and look in to see if there any bubbles in the coolant. If there is a lot of coolant moving in the radiator after the T/stat has opened, the water pump is ok. If not then suspect the water pump is not circulating enough water.

99 pontiac montana overheaten already changed thermostat what is it?

you have a GM common problem and that is a bad intake manifold gasket. GM change the gaskets to plastic and they crank and leak causing over heating. here is a picture of one i took from a 2005 pon. bonneville with 74,000 miles on it2_12_2013_3_00_09_am.jpg

Does head gasket treatment work for 1999 Pontiac Montana?

Depends on how bad the head gaskets are. I've used it on numerous vehicles motors, and if the problem was minor, it worked. If the problem is a little more than minor, it would be a wast of money trying to treat it, you would be better off replacing the gaskets.

How to change head gaskets 2000 montana

I can tell you step by step, but the best way is for you just to buy the repair manual from the auto supply store where you are going to get the parts for the repair. It will have torque specs that you need and other information that will be useful.

Hello I looking for intake manofold torque for my pontiac montana 2000

remember new head bolts also, torque to yeild bolts. i would recommend to get a service manual for torque specs and procidures for removal of heads. also head gaskets are leaking for a reason have heads checked for straightness and for cracks at local machine shop, keep all pushrods and rockers numbered for reassembly, pushpods are different and will cause major engine damage if mixed up.
