Did anyone make sure the engine cooling fans work/ came on? This is my first check, unless it is obvious that the head gaskets are blown(lots of white smoke out the exhaust).
best is for you to go to an auto parts shop and get a workshop manual for that engine
the vehicle will be immaterial if it uses that same engine as yours
It is in the fuel tank with the pump. Requires tank removal to replace (about 4 hours!). Not a normal required item for this unit unless you have contaminated tank and fuel which would be bad news.
If you're finding it difficult to service/repair your car, get one of those online manuals. You'll not have to wait for others to answer, or rely on mechanics and all. Plus I know a website that has very good manuals online, without expiry i.e. for lifetime. www.reliable-store.com
You may have to take it to a shop instead of a parts store. Some code readers will not access the body computer, only the engine computer. If the lights come on, there should be trouble codes stored.
I have seen this many times. We never could find out exactly why it does it. I have seen vacuum leaks cause it, as well as pcv valves. All different makes and models. Usually it does it at lower rpm's. Like you said, usually when the engine is cold. I really don't think you have anything to worry about. Might want to check for a vacuum leak, perhaps in your hoses. Make sure all your hoses are on good. If the vehicle was acting up, it could be something else. If it is not, I don't think you should worry. The noise is from the air components.
