I live in colorado and recently my edge has been steaming or smoking from the engine when at stop lights. Coolant is full and no check engine lights have come on. The engine tempature seems normal on the gauge.

Hi:
Can you duplicate the problem in your driveway? You could have a pin hole leak in a hose or the radiator, where not much fluid has been lost but steams out under pressure. If you get the car warmed up, it should steam out sitting still too?

If you can't find anything, try putting in a bottle of Bahrs leak radiator sealant into the cooling system. It won't hurt anything, because every vehicle that leaves the auto plant has this in the radiator, and it lubes the water pump too. If you have a small leak, it will fix it too.

Lot of snow will do that !! means that you have dehydration of snow/metled snow on the exhaust manifolds should clear up once the roads are clear also check the valve cover gaskets for oil leaks

My 2004 kia amanti it's turning then dies almost immediately prior to this it came on then was blowing thick white smoke out the exhaust

smoke out exh is normal if super cold out side is it. (steam)
when engine is fully warm this steam goes away
but if not and smells sweet this steam that is cracked head or warped head.
if IMMO lamp is not happy ,the immo kills spark and fuel.

did you used only water for coolant in engine/rad?
that error cracks blocks and heads
starter cranks Fast( turns)
engine starts, smokes and stall.
when an engine burns fuel it makes steam and most times can not be seen on hot day but will on any cold day,yes
learn to watch your neighbors cars push out steam then later it stops hot engine. if smoke is smoke it smells like burning oil and is because it is oil burning, and is other problems ,

when it wants to DIE, use fast right foot to stop the stall
can you?
make sure dead cold engine,
rad cap off , is full of AF 50% ,i test mine every early fall for 50%
or risk great engine damage. (a tool I have tests that cheap)

Hi I have a 2017 Nissan Navara NP300

White Smoke = Steam
Blue Smoke = Oil
Black Smoke = Rich Mixture

Are you losing coolant?

Are you losing oil?

And my learned colleagues excellent advice should be down here.

Have you opened the bonnet up and looked at engine ?
Suggest checking oil cap is screwed on properly ?
Look at exhaust manifold is there oil spilling onto it ?
check oil dip stick is fully inserted into engine ?
Also check power steering pipes for leaks ?
Let us know how you get on !!

2009 Kiak 2700 diesel. White smoke. Had injectors reconditioned. Why is it still smoking?

White smoke is more likely coolant. So a head gasket leak or cracked head or cylinder sleeve.

Check coolant level ievel s not dropping.

My car has white smoke coming from the exhaust

he causes of white exhaust smoke can vary; however, it is common to see white exhaust smoke when first starting a car, especially on cooler days. This is generally steam caused by condensation. As the engine warms up and the condensation dissipates the white exhaust smoke (steam) is no longer seen. If excessive white exhaust smoke is present well after the engine warms up, it is necessary to have the car inspected for possible internal coolant leaks. Indicators of an internal coolant leak include billowing white exhaust smoke accompanied by a sweet odor or a low coolant reservoir level. An internal coolant leak can also contaminate the engine oil giving it a frothy, milky appearance. Even small amounts of coolant entering the combustion chamber will produce white exhaust smoke.
One of the main causes of white exhaust smoke and coolant loss is a cracked or warped cylinder head, a cracked engine block, or head gasket failure caused by overheating. A cracked head may allow coolant to leak into one or more cylinders or into the combustion chamber of the engine. Dirty coolant, a poorly maintained cooling system, a low coolant level, or a non-functioning cooling fan can cause engine overheating. In addition, engine wear can eventually cause the gaskets to lose their capacity to seal properly allowing internal coolant loss. Intake manifold gasket and head gasket failures are two of the most common sources of internal coolant loss caused by engine wear.
Never remove the radiator cap or coolant reservoir cap while the engine is hot or running as it can cause serious injury; always allow the car to cool down completely first. Checking for a low coolant level in the reservoir is the first step in determining if coolant loss is causing the white exhaust smoke. If the coolant reservoir is at the proper level but excessive white exhaust smoke is present, a cooling system pressure check is required to determine where, if any, coolant leaks are located.

Audi 90 engine smoking little white smoke

Head gasket?, sounds like it is creating steam by burning coolant, check your oil filler cap, is it full of creamy gunge? check the coolant expansion tank is it smelling of fuel and murky with traces of oil?, is the car running temperature hotter than usual?, if the answer is yes to any of these the gasket is on its way out.

2001 s10 did not overheat but lost power, coasted to stop, white smoke from tailpipe and engine. What could this be?

The white smoke is probably steam caused by coolant getting into the cylinder(s) either from a faulty head gasket, cracked cylinder head or cracked engine block. The loss of heat from the heater indicated that coolant was being lost..

My 1996 honda civic ex overheated this afternoon. I noticed smoke coming out of the hood on the passenger side. I got off of the highway to find a service station but when I stopped at a light the check...

I would check all my hoses, top and bottom radiator hose, and all heater hoses.. check for breaks. Check all clamp connections on hoses. I think this may be just a worn hose that busted. This would not be serious nor expensive. The smoke was probably steam from the overheated coolant. If you stopped it when the light came on ,there should be no additional damage.

Smokes when you start up and then stops

didn t say what color smoke --if you start up on cold or damp days and get a small white or steam looking discharge from tail pipe than your burning out/off the moisture that has accumulated in the exhaust system when all moisture gone smoke gone ---white alot- billowy-and doesnt stop burning coolant -water/anti-freeze-leak in coolant or the famous blown head gasket ----black smoke and not a diesel carbon build up and or need tuneup---blue smoke burning oil something in engine is damaged and allowing oil into cylinder and is being burnt

I have an Isuzu rodeo '97 v-6 , it's tapping, but not loud uses tiny bit of oil. when i crank it in the morning it smokes but not from oil usage..its steam..smelling of coolant...takes a long time to stop...

The tapping is possibly sticking lifters or damaged rocker arm shafts. The steaming and coolant smell maybe a leaking head gasket or worst a cracked cylinder head. If you have a coolant pressure tester you can remove all the spark plugs and then apply pressure to the cooling system. Leave it set with pressure applied for 15 min. then spin the engine over with the starter and see if there is water coming out of the spark plug holes.
