Ratchet, 3 or 6 inch extension, universal joint, and 3/4 inch or 19mm socket. The plug is on passenger side of radiator on the engine side. The socket fits over the drain plug, turn counterclockwise to open or remove. On a Cirrus, it is difficult to reach, so I had to use a universal joint to reach it. I think the manual calls for a 19mm socket-mine was rounded off-a 3/4 in. socket worked.
Cv joints in your intrepid? Remove the tire, unbolt the lower ball-joint, Remove the hub nut, pull outer joint from wheel bearing, pull shaft from transmission.
I know that I have addressed this. From under the car, remove the 4 nuts that hold the 2 "U" clamps on the rear universal joint. Pull the drive shaft out of the transmission tail section and remove the U joint from there - the same way. Now, with caution not to lose the needle bearings in the U joint caps, install the new U joints and snug the bolts down to about 35 Ft Lbs of torque.
The universals are glued in and will need to be heated in order to remove the glue. I use a propane torch to heat the area where the caps to the joints are melting the glue. Mark the shaft so it will be aligned properly before disassembly(spray paint a line on it down the lenght). Then press the joints out. Clean any residual glue off the ends of the shaft, there will be grooves for lock rings supplied with the new joints to fit in, clean them. Realign the shaft and press the new joints in. Some auto parts stores will rent/lend and u-joint press or you can take the shaft to a shop and have the joints pressed in for a fee. Call first and make arrangements.
If you have never done one it isn't real easy. You might want to remove your driveshaft and take it to a shop or a machine shop. If you remove the shaft they won't charge you much to install the joint. I can tell you how to change it with a vice, hammer and some kind of torch if you want to do it yourself.
