My 2009 cobalt would not shut off and key would

My 2009 cobalt would not shut off and key would not come out. what can I do to get key out . had to pull fuse and unhook battery to shut it off.

If this is any help my car did the same thing several times and dealer wanted to charge you an arm and a leg to fix so check this the fuse box by the floor board on passenger side remove cover and check the ignition fuse mine was blown so i had to replace it so hope this works for u.

Try turning steering wheel and jiggling key or pull tilt adjustment and move up and down and jiggle key toward off position if no good notify dealer of problem notify even if u get key off vehicle is 09 should be still under warranty if happened once will do it again

you will need to replace the entire lock cylinder with keys. A bent tumbler inside the lock is causing your problem

I had the same problem. It is a factory recall, go to dealership and they replace for free.

The key will not turn to off position on my 2009 Cobalt LS, had to disconnect the battery to shut it off.

The steering lock and cylinder has to be replaced and the new key has to be reprogrammed.

Jiggle the steering wheel while turning to the starting and shutting down motion........Hope this helps.

Where is lug nut key on 2009 cobalt

stock cobalts do not come with locking lug nuts from the factory, therefore the lugnuts on your car were put on aftermarket or from the dealer. as far as the key goes they could have put it anywhere, or not have given you one at all.

any discount tire store sells lug nut keys for about $5, just take them your car and they will sell you a key.
