Remove the body brace over it.
1 bolt in the back, 2 in the front.
Remove the battery mount.
One bolt on the front of the battery (kind of faces the engine).
Disconnect the battery lift out, replace.
Reverse disassembly.
After removing the front bolts from the chassis crossbar, loosen the
back one(s) so it will swing out of the way. You can squeeze the
plastic retainer holding the front wire harness to release it, then
it's just a matter of (carefully!) wiggling the battery into position
to lift it out.

Im not certain if you need to know where the battery is or not but in my 2000 dodge stratus it is behind the drivers side fender and the fender has to come off to get to it. yea, i never knew they put them there till i got this car so if your problem is finding it thats where it may be, i just read that in the 2001 olds aurora, its under the back seats, so could be the same for yours. good luck, and hope this helps

if the battery is sidepost, try loosening it and at the same time pulling on it "away from battery" or placing a screwdriver under the edge of the terminal to put some tension on it while unscrewing the bolt. if its top post try wedging something down in between the terminal and the bolt carefully not to puncture the top of the battery. and try widening the gap while trying to loosen it or useing a pair of pliers to work it loose.

The positive post seems stripped, I cannot get a grip with the wrench. The battery also seems stuck to the bottom of the (tray?), but I don't see anything bolting it down.
I found the bolt holding the battery down, but i still cannot remove the positive cable. Any suggestions?
what do u need to know, this is pretty easy.
