1996 grand am driver side window lift not lifting.

need to remove door panel to access the door hardware most probable is a rod popped off or clip broke

should be under a cover in the back compartment, lift the hatch and look for a place you can lift the panel for access. Unless you have a very special model that has it under the vehicle in the back(some rare police models and ones for south Americas)

COS THEY ARE TOO BLOODY HEAVY...use a lump of 3x3 to lift the rear of the door to "adjust" the door back to its normal level)

it sounds like the widow mechanisn it works by cable on a disk one of the plastic clips have broke and the cable has wound it self up you should be able to lift the window and push something in between the glass and the door panle to keep it from coming down i had the same problem with my mates car had to by a new mechanisn they are easy to fit hope this helps you

you might check to see if the hinges are worn out.
Grab the rear of the door and lift up. otherwise, it sounds like the window frame needs to be bent in.
When i worked In the body shop we would sit in the seat with door slightly open, put our knee againts the rear of the door, grab it at the top and pull in real hard untill the window frame bends in.

There are two screws at the bottom of door panel. The panel...pull from bottom first out toward you. work your way up the edges. When door panel is lose lift up and the top will come lose. The window regulator and motor are as one. Check fuse block under hood on driver side.

SHoluld be pretty simple. Look for any obvious screw covers, remove. Make sure the handle and switch covers are clear--snap off if necessary being careful not to break, then starting at the bottom, pop off the snap dowels that hold it on. After all is clear all around, lift the panel up and usually more from the back of the door panel. Good luck.

not very hard / first thing pop of mirror cover inside then look for screw and little plastic pop outs take screw out and the lift up and pout the bottom of the door trim then pull out on the sides then pull up and out pull vapar barrier off and look inside the door disconect the wiring before the plastic ok/ Please rate my response thank you very much

Can you hear it at least trying to lift, Motor grunting kind of ? If yes try to spray some (lots of ) silicone spray, or even "pam" cooking spray down along the edges where the felt is to see if that will help loosen it up & lubricate the guides. The odd time a sharp blow to mid area of door inside panel while holding switch in up position, you may get lucky one time.

remove the door panel, from the inside you should have access to the window. lift the window up unto the raling. Check to see if the railing is not bent or why the window came off the railing.
