2001 gmc serria 4.8 liter, i start the engine oil pressure stays at 0 psi, hit 3000 rpms. Then it reads 45 psi.Im thinking oil pump and valve. Im going to try a oem oil filter first. Any ideas

I would start with the oil pressure sending unit. These can fail. Often replacing them will then have correct oil pressure readings. Oil filters (all of them) are designed to allow oil to flow through them or around the filter media if it's plugged thus not starving the engine of oil flow and pressure. So it is unlikely that is the problem.

Oil pressure guage not registering

The oil pressure gauge on a 2004 WJ doesn t really show the pressure, but it will go to a preset value when pressure is ok, or it will stay at o PSI. So you need a pressure switch on this jeep and not a pressure sending unit. If the right unit is installed, then or the pressure indicator is faulty, or wiring. Do a test of the instrument panel to see if the indicator works: ignition switch in off, press the odometer reset button and now switch ignition in run. Instrument panel will start a self test, all lights will come on and all meters will go full scale and return to normal.

The gas gauge is not registering when gas is put in the van

I don`t know this particular car but I don`t think the dissy has anything to do with the fuel gauge. Did the fuel gauge work perfectly before?? If so, you`ll probably find that you`ve disturbed a connector which goes to the sender unit. It`s very easy to do, I`ve done it myself and it`s VERY annoying to find you`ve sorted one fault only to find that you`ve caused another fault. Just go over everything that you`ve touched and done to the car. Did you short something out when you were replacing the cap, if so, you`ll probably find that a fuse has failed and it`s not just the gauge that doesn`t work. All the best, Ian

Dashboard gauges

Sounds like you have a broken wire. Check the wires under the fuse panel under the hood. Its a problem with Chrysler mini vans and it might be the same here.

You Know That That's Just HopeFully A FAULTY Dummy Gauge As They Refferred To Them In The Ole Day... But If You Reg Change Your Oli @ Every 3000-5000 Miles As Suggested, You Know Exactl;y Where Your Truck Is, I WAs Recommended The Same Thing, But My Fix Was To Just Install A Aftermarket Oil Pressure Gauge, Which they Are More In -expensive Then This New Gauge For You Dashboard Oil Light.... Unfortunately But They Are Twice As Reliable, Hope Any Of This Was Of Some Help, James W
