1993 Subaru legacy running horrible. Ultra rich fuel mixture. When I give the vehicle gas it bogs down like it is getting too much gas and not enough spark or something. Not sure where to start looking. Any Ideas?

2005 dodge magnum, sometimes bogging down , mainly inner city travels When it boggs down and I have to give full acceleration, it will take off fast afterward and a strong gas smell is give off.

Hi Kelly:
Sounds like it's getting too rich a mixture at low RPM.
The full acceleration is getting lots of air and essentially purging the bad mixture.
I'd recommend checking on how long it's been since a "tune-up".
Things like changing the air filter and spark plugs.
A dose of "tune up in a can" through the fuel system has been known to clean up a gummy carb or fuel injection system.

Why does my 98 subaru legacy sputter and die?

Clean your MAF sensor and throttle body. If it's dirty it will send wrong voltage to ECU, running either too lean or too rich, most likely too rich and flooded the fuel injectors.

94 subaru legacy wagon will start and run for a few seconds if the fuel pump is disconnected but won't start at all when reconneced.

Check for a very dirty air filter or an obstruction in the air intake. (Engine not getting enough air so mixture is too rich.) Check for fuel pressure to be correct and not too high with the pump running. If it is too high, check that the fuel pressure regulator is working.

Try this: connect the fuel pump but disconnect the cold start fuel injector. If you can get it to start and run, then fuel pressure being too high is most likely. When the cold start injector turns on, the extra pressure is causing more fuel to flow through the injector than normal and the engine floods out.

My 96 manual legacy is losing pickup and takes a lot of patience to get to 40 mph. it feels like its bogged down and just revvs when i press the gas. pulled both cats and both are clear. exhaust is...

I just ran into this problem and mine ended up being a weak fuel pump. It worked enough to make it run and drive like you are describing but didn't pump enough to run like normal.

Car will start but dies when pressing the gas pedal

It sounds like you have an issue with something in your air/fuel mixture electronics. This could be something in your throttle body, mas air flow sensor, or even an oxygen sensor. When your car is idling the air/fuel mixture is acceptable for the engine to run. When you press on the gas either too much gas is dumped in the engine or too little. If you look at your exhaust pipe you may notice a heavy built up of black soot. This would indicate that your vehicle is running extremely rich (too much gas), if your exhaust is very white then your vehicle is running lean (too little gas). The smell of the exhaust can also tell you something about how the engine is running. If it smells sweet it is running rich. I hope this helps and please don't forget to rate me.
