The remote starter module is not getting an electrical signal when you turn the key to the on position after remote stating the vehicle. When you depress the brake without turning the key on the vehicle shuts down. The remote module thinks the key is off even when you turn it on. There is a loose connection or the remote start device is defective.
The remote control's internal battery may be low and require replacement. Open the remote control and measure the electrical voltage of the battery using a multimeter. If this is not possible, visit your nearest Radio shack retail store and they will check the battery's voltage for you.
have you checked if the battery is placed properly in the key.when you press the remote alight on the key should glow.if not so then check the key battery.if fine then the cause is elsewhere.

Usually with remotes you turn the key for the ignition to the off position, then turn the ignition key eight times without starting it, on the 8th time leave the key on the forward position then push any button on your remote that should fix the remote problem.
I had the same issue with my remote start on another vehicle, the part that bypasses the code on the key had to be reset. The way we figured it out was everything was normal except the vehicle did not start & the security light flashed rapidly.
I had the exact same problem where I could lock the car remotely but I couldn't unlock it remotely after about 2 minutes. I was able to fix the problem by simply disconnecting the positive (red) side of the battery for a minute, and then reconnecting it.
