This can happen when an electrical part gets warmed up and fails. Possible causes are the fuel pump, the ignition coil, ignition control module (or igniter as Honda calls it), crankshaft position sensor to name the most common. The first causes a fuel problem, the last three are ignition related and cause loss of spark at the spark plugs. What you could do is check for spark on one of the spark plug wires while someone cranks the engine over, immediately after it shuts off and won't restart. If you have no spark, then you know it is ignition related. If you do still have spark, it could be your fuel pump. The best check for that is to check the fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge.
I would need more information to give you a good answer. I need to know how long will it stay running a few seconds an hour what is it. I had a 2000 blazer that would start fine everyday and i would 10 minutes and it died sometimes i drove an hour and it died. I parked it and everytime i started it would run about 10-15 minutes and die. after it would die i would check fuel pressure which was good and spark. Well turns out there's no spark so i changed coil ,plugs, wires, rotor. I finally changed the crankshaft positioning sensor and that tuned out to be the problem so good luck.
well if it starts with starter fluid then you need to change the fuel pump and fuel filter, if it had anything to do with spark it would not start with starter fluid.
1998 Chrysler Concorde just stopped running while driving down the road. No warnings, the engine just shut down. The check engine light did not come on, the lights stayed on. When I tried to restart it, it turned over but would not start. What could have caused this?
check to see if your plugs need changing and then check your HT/LT leads on the plugs as they may be loose or water clogged somewhere or have a split wire that is just touching enabling it to fire a few times
I would say replace ignition coil, that might me the problem, otherwise it can be the ecu, which might have some electrical problems not allowing the car to stay running. Good luck.
Can you explain more so I can help. What do you mean still wont turn on, engines doesn't start or starter motor doesn't turn. Have u taken out a spark plug and connected it to the cable put the end of the spark plug to a ground and make someone turn on the engine for a few seconds you should see some blue sparks. Carefully use gloves. If no sparks, spark plug is bad next thing to check instead of putting the spark plug in the cable put Philips screwdirver put the screwdriver near a ground not touching about one inch make someone turn the engine for a couple of second you should see the spark jumping from the screwdriver to the ground, If there are no sparks ignition coil or spark plug cables are not good. But u say u changed ignition coil so maybe your cables are not good. There is a connector near the ignition coil disconnect it and turn ignition switch on measure the voltage you should have in between 12vdc + or - .5 vdc if no voltage present there is a blown fuse, Check for it
spark plugs? spark plug wires? coil? if it shuts off when hot, and starts when cold, coil could be problem....could be radiator stopped up causing it too heat, and will go off wait a few and it'll start back up...
