You need to check the cable/linkage for the shifter, If the shifter moves and it does not shift the problem could be there. If the shifter won't move the problem could also be that there is a lot of p[ressure on the trans. This could be caused by being parked on a hill or incline. If this is the case it is a very is repair, all you have to do is push the truck up the hill slightly to take the pressure off and the shifter will move. Theses are the normal things that happen there are a few other things that can happen but they are internal in the trans and are not easy to repair unless you have done this type of repair before.

STUCK IN PARK

Usually a problem with the brake pedal switch or the solenoid that locks the shifter in park.
Those components would need to be tested for power.
You may be able to take the shifter out of park by turning the key switch but not to the on position.

2002 dodge durango gearshifter stuck in park

Brake interlock is going to be the problem. Check all your fuses, especially the ABS and tail light fuses. If all your fuses are good, then it will be down to a wiring issue or bad solenoid for the interlock system.

Gear shift is stuck in park I have a similar problem. I have a 2004 dodge durango. It will start up fine, but it won't shift into reverse or drive. It usually takes up to 15 minutes sometimes to get it...

there is a release on the brake pedal that lets the transmission shift out of park you should hear it click when you put your foot on the brake

it is your interlock solenoid or switch on your brake pedal. This keeps you from starting your car in anything but park.

STUCK IN PARK

Try it while someone rocks vehicle forward & back, and also try pushing brake pedal hard too when rocked forward.
