The interior lights won't shut off. I have to

The interior lights won't shut off. I have to open the hood and reset the battery everytime I get out of the car so that my battery won't die because of the lights staying on.

Did you ever find a solution to this problem? We are having the same problem but we did find that the car has a battery protection device. The lights will go out after 10 minutes of the ignition being off but this does not help with driving at night with the interior lights being on while traveling. Any suggestions?

Interior roof lights won't go off

This can be caused by a door or trunk being ajar, be sure you shut all doors firmly, if there is still no resolve check by shutting all doors then open one up and press the button (if any) on the inside of the door jam and see if it is broken or the light goes off.

My trunk broke a couple days ago and won't shut--I don't see any interior lights on in my trunk or inside of the car. Would there be any other lights that I'm not aware of that could drain my...

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. Trunk lights can be tricky. Make sure it is not on. Check for any lights in the glovebox or under the hood, dome lights, even the radio. If your battery is draining, check the wires, battery post, and terminals. They may need cleaned. May need a new battery if it continues to not hold a charge.

1998 Ford Windstar Minivan: 1. I sometimes get an extended crank when trying to start engine after I've made a short trip. 2. My interior lights won't go out after I turn the engine off, so I...

YOU MAY HAVE A BAD DOOR AJAR SWITCH. HOWEVER, YO HAVE A TIMER THAT SHUTS OFF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AFTER 300 MINUTES. IT'S CALLED A BATTERY SAVER FEATURE. TEST IT OUT.

THE EXTENDED CRANK MAY BE A CHECK VALVE IN THE FUEL PUMP IN THE TANK, ALLOWING PRESSURE TO DROP WHEN YOU TURN THE ENGINE OFF.
OR A BAD FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR ON THE ENGIEN FUEL RAIL.

TRY THIS TEST, TURN KEY TO "ON" POSITION, WAIT 5 SECONDS, SHUT OFF KEY FOR 30 SECONDS. TURN KEY ON, WAIT 5 SECONDS, THEN START ENGINE. IF IT STARTS RIGHT UP, YOU ARE LOSING FUEL PRESSURE WITH ENGINE OFF.

THIS BUILDS UP PRESSURE IF IT DROPPED DURING SHUT DOWN.
REPORT TEST RESULTS.

PLEAE RATE, THANKS

2007 Ford mustang lights go on and off interior lights dash lights and car shuts off, opened hood smoke from battery seems to be overcharging is this battery or voltage regulator.

Could be several things. The battery or alternator can be tested at most of your local parts store. I would start with those probably battery first then alternator as batterys are less expensive and earier to install. What ever u decide to do i would make sure to get both checked to avoid burning up a new battery if it is the alternator as well as the battery.

Battery keeps dying on 2001 Ford Windstar.

Check your battery terminals make sure they are clean and corrosion free.
Also check all ...A-L-L courtesy lights in your car. there are some ceiling mounted lights that are passenger operated and may be on... Also check your glove compartment and consoles for lights.
Also check for charger cords... These have indicator lights and sometimes can drain the batt as well.
Also, under the hood, is a gravity activated lamp . Open the hood and make sure that it's going off and staying off as the hood closes...
Let me know if you find anything...

Wiring a 1990 Cadillac Deville aftermarket radio.

If you are starting with a fresh battery and it drains down overnight or ina day or so.First make sure you alternator is sufficiently charging. Then make sure all components are switched off, including any interior lights (from doors being open)and hood lights (from hood being up).Take your ground cable loose from the battery and place a 12volt test light between the cable and battery terminal. You should have no, to very dim light. If you have a bright light, then start pulling fuses out one by one.(take one out and then replace it before you remove another)When your test light goes out,see what component the fuse is for that made the test light go out. Then check that circuit or component for short.Good Luck!!!
