If the pump continued to run after shutting off the car you fuel pump relay was probably staying latched. I would replace the relay as well based on your info. Along with the pump the fuel filter should be replaced too and fuel pressure should be checked. Make sure your ground is good also.
The transmission receives information from this switch and you need to replace it. It's located on top of the transmission where the shift cable attaches.
Check fan motor is not seized; if fan blades free to run, check supply fuse and operation of fan control relay.
If all above ok, check operation of fan control sensor switch on motor.
