I have a 2002 dodge grand caravan and when it has been driven for a while it makes a loud noise when I slow down to pull into a parking space. It will even do it when I am not turning. The noise is getting worse and now when I have driven for a while the noise is vibrating through the steering wheel.
Here is somthing easy you can check although it does sound like the axle joints.
Check the axle joints. If boots are torn that's a good indication that the joint has failed. If everything is intact, It would be difficult to guess what else has failed, could be anything in the driveline or even inside the transmission. Most often though what you described is either a joint or hub bearing though.
