Either flat battery or a bad connection from battery to starter, / starter, or bad ground to engine from chassis or battery, a jammed starter can also cause that

If you are getting a rapid clicking noise, that means the battery is dead or you have a poor connection between the battery and starter. It could also be a poor connection on the negative or ground side of the battery or ground cable. Try jump starting it or put a battery charger on it for a half hour or so and try it again. If you get it going you should have the charging system and battery checked ASAP (as soon as posible). If you don't need to go anywhere leave the charger on the battery over night, set the charger on a slow charge rate less than 15 amps.

Avalon wont start batt seems fine just clicking

seems, means nuttn. (no jumper cables,?????)
only a volt meter works, seems is zero .
a rested charged battery and (warm temps) is 12.6vdc.
you crank it, (not in Klondike?) and battery holds above 11v. cranking
does it? if not the battery is bad, or not charged.
jumper cables to other car fix it?
barrowed battery from wifes good car fix it?
no,
no.?
ok are battery cables cleaned, the lugs.
yes.
you hot wire the starter (keys in pocket)
starter works (engine dont start for safety here)
it fails to crank, starter is bad.
it cranks, that means the key line is dead.

if key line fails, did you wiggle the shifter cranking, , do so.
if that starts car the PRNDL switch is bad. on trans side.

Clicking noise start wont

I would guess your alternator is failing or has failed. Your vehicle will not run if the battery is dead and the alternator has no output.

2003 dodge caravan will not start. Makes a clicking noise, and dash shuts off, then makes a humming sound.

im going to say an almost dead battery .the hum you hear might be the fuel pump.you never heard it before because the van normaly starts .so boost your van if it starts you may have to replace the altenator the guages, no worries many cars do that .thats a code needing erased and if you disconnect the battery that may go away.

Car has trouble starting. Does not click, does not turn over. After key is pulled from ignition, all gauges flip up and then back to normal simultaneously

It may be as simple as cleaning the battery cables.Having the clock reset shows a complete loss of voltage at one point. How old is the battery?

why did you disconnect the battery cables to do an oil change.make sure the terminals(both battery and cables) are clean and tight.this may be all it is.you don`t say but if you have anti-theft on the car it may need to be reset to start the car.

I have a 2004 Dodge Grand caravan that won't start. (60,000 miles) I hear a clicking noise and my gauges go "crazy" when I turn the key. (Speedometer goes from 0-120 and back to zero when I turn...

Sounds like a classic case of a dead battery. It takes much less energy to sweep the gauges and turn on the lights than it does to crank the engine over. The clicking noise is usually your starter solenoid trying to engage and spin the starter. Try a new battery. Happy motoring.

Good luck.

98 chev blazer wont start or make any noises...

Listen for a click from under the steering column when you turn the key on. If you hear no electrical click then your ignition switch could be bad. If you hear an electrical click the you starter soleniod is bad.
