It sounds like air in the fuel line or a carburator/fuel injector problem

my old vehicles that have been sitting run MUCH better if I give them new fuel

its possible it could be the fuel pump have the pressure and the fuel volume checked with a gage and see how much the pump can pump gas in about 15-20 seconds, and compare to specs.

1st problem died a few times while I was backing up, has died when sitting idle at a traffic light. 2nd problem on the freeway going 70mph it jerked 3 times.

It sounds like to me it could be as simple as replacing your 02 sensor, let me know if that solves the problem, I have feeling it will, thanks mike from fixya.

Blazers in park = rattling noise ..... Blazers in drive = whining sound & while driving on interstate (ranging 35mph-65mph) I can feel it hesitate when I press on gas almost as if it can't (but it doe)...

have you had the catalytic converter checked. When they break apart they will make a rattle ling noise. eventually the broken pieces will plug the exhaust and cause a lack of power feeling. When the exhaust is cold hit the bottom of the catalytic converter with your hand. If it rattles it is bad and needs to be replaced.

Jerky accelerating, late response to gas being pressed

Well for one, make sure you speed up slowly, dont HIT the accelerator. It may also be problems with your fuel filter. After you are stoped fuel stops running through the fuel pump/filter and then when you start going its starts to run through again and it cant keep up so it gets bubbles in it and doesnt move throught the filter easily hence the jerky accelerating. Good Luck

Engine running rough at idle and missfiring when stepping on the gas

either the timing belt is going and that rarely fixes itself.... or buy a couple bottles of gasline antifreeze and put it in your gas tank....other possibility is coil pack.... start the motor up at night and see if you see any arcing from the ignition.
