Just need to know how to aline timing markes 1.9l sohc 1994 sc1

The SL is the small 4 door
The SC is the 2 door Sport Coupe
The numbers refer to the engine. The all have a 1.9 liter. "1" is a Single Over Head Cam, 8th VIN will be an "8". "2" is the Dual Over Head Cam, 8th VIN will be a "7"

So a Saturn SL2 with be a 4 door with a DOHC 1.9 liter. SL1 will be a 4 door with a SOHC 1.9 liter. SC2 will be a 2 door with a 1.9 liter DOHC. SC1 will be a 2 door with a 1.9 liter SOHC.

Anything is possible. Do you really want to open that can of worms??? You will need to also change all of the wiring harnesses, all the emission controlls and the engine control computer to go with it. If you have OBD emissions testing in your area, it will be very difficult to pass inspection unless you transfer EVERYTHING. If you just want more power, it would be a whole lot easier to just buy another car with a bigger engine.

ebay or junkyards is where i would look first.

have throttle position sensor tested.

EGR Valve Pintle Position Circuit. Clean EGR Valve first, if problem persists, it is not serviceable and must be replaced

Open the hood if it says efiohc or single cam on the valve cover then it is a sc1 if it says dohc or twin cam than it is an sc2

If you go to your local Auto Parts store (Advanced Auto, Auto Zone, Pepboys) get the Haynes Manual for your car it tell you step by step and has some pictures too........very helpful
