Should you flush or change your transmission fluid on a 2005 Lincoln LS with 125,000 miles?

I would recommend the flush due to all of the fluid is pushed out with new fluid so it should push the old out with the new . I've never flushed one and it cause to stsrt slipping . If you have metal shavings on the clutches you may need to do a clutch replacement and you may be smelling a burnt clutch . It's smells awful like rurnt eggs or something awful . I would definitely look into where the shaving are from and if it's gonna keep hitting whatever it's hitting before I replaced the fluid . Trans fluid I cheap and if you change it and shavings is still generating then you wasted your money on the fluid change..

Will not go forward

Check transmission fluid level. If low then add to top of full line. If fluid is full already, is it burnt looking or smelling? If answer is yes, replace transmission. Sorry, but not much will keep the transmission from working. If the fluid is really low then the the pump won't have enough to engage the gears. However chances are if the fluid is that low then it is burnt looking and smelling too which means that the transmission will need major repairs.

Was driving and went to park now i have no reverse, but have all the other gears

sounds to me like it is long over due for service. if the ****** can be saved at this point it needs a fluid and filter change pronto.... have you by chance made sure there is fluid still in the ******? and if there is still fluid in it you should smell it and see if it smells burnt run your fingers down the dip stick and check for any metel shavings in the fluid. with luck no burnt smell and no metel shavings and fluid still in the transmission with a service and filter change you could be backing up again in no time. but if you smell burnt fluid or see shinny metel flakes of feel corse metel shavings in the fluid i am afraid you are in for an expensive adventure and will be replacing either the car or transmission sorry for the bad news

High rpm before tranmission will move car, then still will slip.

check your transmission fluid level and condition!!!!!!!!!!!! to do this make sure the engine is warm and running, with it in park pull the dipstick and look at the fluid it should be a deep red and not smell like anything but transmission fluid. if it is a different color or smells burnt the you need to change it. wipe the fluid off and reinsert the dipstick, pulling it right back out. look at the level. there is a mark on the dipstick to show you if it is full. if this is good then you need to change the filter or you have a bad torque converter. one thing here if you need to change your fluid and filter due to a severely deteriorated fluid, then look for any metal shavings in the pan. if you see a lot start saving money for a new transmission. good luck

Transmission is slipping

once the tranmission starts slipping that is the end of the useable life for the tranmission, u will need an overhaul, sorry there is no repair other than that for slipping conditions.

M45 Infinity Transmission Problem?

Just because the tranny fluid is full doesn't really mean that much. More importantly, what does it look and smell like? The recommended interval for trans service is 30,000 miles. It is important that this be done every time. The reason is that the tranny fluid pan has a filter inside. As the fluid loses its viscosity it loses its ability to lubricate. Once this begins to take place the heat and wear inside the transmission increase and can do so very quickly. If there is excessive wear then when you perform the service you will find metallic shavings in the bottom of the pan and in the fluid. If the fluid is not a brighter shade of red, or if it is more of a rust looking color then I would say have it serviced asap. If it smells burnt then that is another warning sign. But I would definitely have it serviced, not just draining and refilling the fluid. But filter, pan gasket and bolts as well. If the fluid looks good and doesn't smell burnt, then it could likely be a shift solenoid type issue. But you would have to have that diagnosed at a shop that has a Consult type computer to check for codes in the TCM.

2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette shifts into gear hard

try having your transmission filter changed there only about 15 - 20 bucks but you will have to buy transmission fluid. ive seen that solve that problem in a few vechiles. if you do it yourself there is a magnet located in the transmission pan that you have to remove to change the filter and if it is full of metal shavings i suggest asking a local transmission shop about having trouble with that type of vechicle
