Hello, how are you?
I have a 2002 Nissan Maxima that gives a static shock every time I get out of car. The shock is so strong it'll open your hand, and even travel up your arm, and it hurts. You can actually "see" the spark in the colder months in New England. The dealership told me to put a "dryer sheet" in my pocket, and after a few days, it'll go away.
Do you believe that, lol? They say the car is properly grounded and I'll simply have to "deal with it".
Note, the car is stock, with no upgrades, including the car radio and speakers. I'm planning on upgrading the radio and speakers, but I'm afraid with the static charge, it may affect the new electronic parts.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers, and Happy New Year,
Jeff
It might help to conect a small wire to the car that could drag the ground.
Testimonial: "Thank you very much. I've seen the same thing resolved with old 70's cars, but figured with newer technology, those were things of the past. Thank you"
This problem has nothing to do with the vehicle's electrical system.
The static is being generated when you slide out of the seat. Try an anti-static spray on the seat upholstery, also you can try rubbing the dryer softener sheet on the seats. Putting one in your pocket will have no effect.
HI, DO NOT CONNECT A NEW RADIO UNTILL YOU HAVE SOLVED THAT STATIC PROBLEM!!! ;)
Your ground wires in your car are disconnected and/or broken and this COULD FRY YOUR WHOLE SYTEM AND COST YOU MONEY IN THE LONG RUN!!!
Take your car to a advertised "AUTO ELECTRICAL EXPERT", they usually fix simple electrical problems very cheaply!!! $20 - $120 , they have schematics to all cars, etc and will solve ytour problem fast...
