There should be a small 5/16 headed bolt, you must take that out and slide the pin out, then push the axles in and take the clips out.

Remove the rear rim and tires with the car on jack stands. remove rear diff cover. have a drain pan under it. you need to spin the diff. the pin can slide all the way though. one side is held in by a bolt. un bolt it. move diff so the pin will slide down and out. you then can push each axle in and remove the clips. then pull the axles out and replce the seals. not an easy or clean job.

Grease and differential oil inside left rear drum

Not that difficult, raise and support the rear of the truck and remove the wheels. Might as well replace both sides so you know you have new seals, remove the differential cover and drain the fluid. Once differential is opened and cleaned , remove the axle "C" clip that hold the axle in place and slide the axle out. Once the axle is out remove the wheel seal and clean around the area. This would be a good time to replace the wheel bearing too since you have access to them and there not that expensive. Install the new bearing and seal, note make sure you oiled the bearing and seal before installing it back and take care when installing the axle back in and "C: clip. Use RTV silicon gasket maker to seal the differential cover and wheels back on and lower. If your lazy like i am, you can drain the differential fluid and replace it with a 50/50 mix with gear oil and Lucas engine oil additives. That may stop the leak and get you a few more miles. You gear oil is (ford 75W-140) (Dana 80W-90)and the capacity is 2.6 liters and 3.5 liters if you have the 10.25 Ring gear. Good luck and hope this helps.

Need 2 get axels out of ford 8.8 rearend. I got it all apart but i cant get the axels to come out. I need to replace the axel seal and bearing. Hope you can help.

Do you have the pin in the differential out & "c" clips removed, or is it a different system? Once pin is out you push in slightly on axles & remove "c" clip, then pull them out.

Rear Axel Seal

Wheel, brakes etc that are in way of pulling axle out have to come off. Drain rear end fluid, remove rear housing cover, remove bolt that holds pin in differential, remove differential pin, push in slightly on axle to remove "U" clip that holds shaft in, then slide shaft out. replace seal. Reverse procedure for re-install & fill with gear lube. If any questions, get back to us.

Replace rear axel bearing on 4x4 5.3 Litre gas engine

Loosen differential cover and let oil drain. Remove cover, remove U lock from axel. Pull axel out. Remove bearing seal then bearing. Install new bearing, seal and reinstall axel. Reinstall U lock and new cover gasket. Fill with 75-90wt gear oil. Now I know that sound pretty straight forward. But there are some things to remember. The U lock can be difficult to remove sometimes. The most important thing is the seal, you will need to make sure it gets seated correctly and not torn when installing axel.
