Need to flush radiator on my 2003 chevy malibu

Radiator is in front of the engine with the silver cap. Do not open it while hot. Drain is on bottom of radiator usually on passenger side. Also note that there is a high point air vent bleeder screw on top of the block that needs to be opened to bleed air from the coolant system, otherwise engine will overheat. And do not let you pets drink the anti-freeze since it is toxic.

Can I replace my dex coolant with regular antifreeze? in my 1997 chevy malibu and how

they say you cant mix different coolants but you can go to auto-zone etc, and buy a cheaper anti-freeze for general motors products. its a 50/50 mix for all gm cars and trucks.you can add this coolant to any brand of anti-freeze. its called universal type anti-freeze. to run a differant anti-freeze in it, you have to flush out complete engine and radiator because the dex-cool and the green stuff do not mix well and cause engine corrosion etc. dex-cool is reccomended for all chevy engines. good-day !

Steam from antifreeze coming from right side of engin

I would check the hoses in that area. It maybe the the water pump bearing shaft seal. There is usually a small drain hole towards the bottom of the pump, that will leak anti-freeze when the seal goes bad. With an inspection mirror, you may be able to see if anti-freeze is leaking from the pump.

Replaceing freeze plugs in the back of a side motor in a 2001 chevy malibu

1) Drain all coolant from the engine/radiator.
2) Drill a hole in the old plug to allow you to thread a lag bolt, which will then be used to pull the old plug out. Or use whatever means you can to remove the old freeze plug.
3) Thoroughly clean the hole with a wire brush attached to a drill motor.
4) Apply sealant to new freeze plug and locate into the hole.
5) Tamp the plug into the hole, flush with the block, with a hammer.
6) Refill radiator with coolant.
7) Check for leaks.

This isn't going to be easy with the engine in the car, but it can be done.
