Fuse to suburban cigarette lighter/power locks keeps blowing.

I have a 1999 suburban where the fuse to to the cigarette lighter and the power locks keeps blowing. What should I check first? The fuse blows with the ignition off?

Note: We have used the cigarette lighter to power electronics.

Unplug cigarette lighter, check circuit, unplug each door individualy at first, Don't forget the back doors, check circuit. Usualy the door wiring is damaged but there may be more then two cigarette lightes depending on the model.

Cigarette lighter keeps blowing fuse

when the lighter is not pushed in does the fuse still blow? If not get a new plug in bit. Try some other plug in unit (GPS--dash cam--tyre compressor) or anything that uses a plug for the cigarette lighter and see it the fuse still blows.

Fuse Keeps Blowing

maybe a bad lighter socket or wires in the back of it.
You don't have to remove the center console to check the cigarette lighter electrical connection. Just pluck the base out of the hole and you will know if it is connected properly back there ....Or replace it. Not big bucks at all :)

I have a 1999 Buick Century. When I plug my GPS power adapter into the cigarette lighter outlet, I blow the fuse. ---Can you suggest a solution? ---How many amps are in that...

Probably a 15 to 20 amps..If you use the cigarette lighter does it also blow the fuse ,you may have a short in the circuit..It should be able to handle the GPS..Dont increase the fuse size, you can cause bigger problems

Where is the cigarette lighter fuse box in an 03 suburban?

My wiring diagram only says "underhood", and also indicates that there's an I/P (interior/passenger)
relay box as well.
The cigarette lighter fuse in a 2003 Suburban is identified as a 15 Amp fuse.

Power locks in the suburban do not work any more

Welcome to FixYa.com,
Have you checked the fuse ?
Take a 12 volt test light and check each side of the fuse no light to one side could mean the fuse is blow, Regards, Lee

Fuse Keeps Blowing

First off the reason for instant fuse blow is because this is a positive wire grounding out or touching/crossing a grounded surface. I would first target the Cig lighter outlet connections also if the outlet is rusty inside looking, replace it.
