the 4 cylinder needs 4 but the v6 takes 4 1/2 quarts of oil.drain and put in 4 turn off engine and fill as nessesary

because of the age using a 5/40 full synthetic is a waste of money,use 10/40 or 20/50 depending on oil burn.semi synthetic.

where is the starter located on a mazda 626 1997

I discovered that removing the dip stick also breaks the vacuum and causes the engine to run really rough. I'm not surprised to hear you get stalls. don't worry too much, just check your oil when the engine is off.!

The distributor has the #1 cylinder's wire marked. The rotation is counter-clockwise and goes: 1-2-3-5-4-6

Regular is fine. I have a 626 as well with manual and it says regular.
