TRYING TO FIND A SHIFTER CABLE. WAS TOLD BY CHEVY DEALERSHIP THAT IT HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED AND WE CAN'T GET IT. NEED TO KNOW IF WE CAN GET ONE AND WHERE.

look at top of transmission -by firewall drivers side cable runs back under firewall to shiftier

It's called an idle air control and you have to go to a salvage yard or dealership. My opinion is to go to the dealership and buy a new one.

Sounds like the shifter cable, or gear shifter mechanism is at fault

My escort is stuck in fourth it's not the clutch or the shifter I have no clue it's moves right where it goes into the tranny but it's stuck in high gear and just is really boggy

Your telling us,you have a vehicle that is less
than 12 years old & you are installing used worn
out parts on it.

That is a lot of work to install junk, on a critical part on
any vehicle,as well as unsafe, in my opinion

Being a salvage yard scavenger,you should know they
have a national register, to look that up for you

sounds more like a gear selector cable.
kick down cable would normally be connected to the throttle somewhere and would not affect the shift lever

the shift lever solenoid is going bad, you didnt mention if it was a column shifter lever or console shifter so i cant tell you how to bypass it, same problem with my chevy,hope this helps, you may need to get this done by a dealer or honest mechanic, if you can find 1, but im sure it will help you out if you look like you know what your talking about, im sure this is your problem! good luck

Does anyone know what the recalled part is for the Chevy Cobalt that causes the key to get stuck in the ignition? I would greatly appreciate any help on this as I do not have $600 to get it fixed.

Ok, Disconnect it from the Tranny First. This will make it easier to Fish Through. Connect the New Cable on the Tranny. Follow where the Old one Goes with the New one, Removing the Old one as you go. It will enter the Cab and work it's way up to the Sterring Column. You will Need to remove the Dash Panel to Access the Cable on the Shifter, It just Pulls Loose. You are at the Hardest Part of this at this Point. Let me know if you cannot access the Shifter From this Point. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!
