In order to do this on the power steering pump you have to loosen a few bolts to let it pivot on the top bolt in the front, then on the bottom on there is an adjustment bolt try to mark where that is tightened to with some electrical tape and then loosen it until the belt can be removed. put the replacement belt on the jeep in the exact same way the older belt was on and then tighten the adjustment bolt on the power steering pump until where you marked it where it was previously tightened to. then tighten the rest of the bolts you loosened and try to start it up. Have Fun.

Engine light is on after replacing radiator fan. jeep liberty

Check the belt. You have a serpentine belt that you removed to replace the fan. Verify it is on, tight and in the right sequence around the pulleys. The light probably will not be fan related but indirectly from the belt or a component that was moved or disconnected. Start with the fan belt.

1988 wrangler startup squeel and rough start

Sounds like you have a loose fan belt. May or not be related to the rough start though. Tighten (and, ideally replace) the fan belt.

My son's jeep is getting warm allmost to over heating. not loosing any fluid? he put more fluid in the over flow when warm and now its over full.

Could be one of the following:
Physically look in the radiator under the cap for coolant level, and check the valve in the cap for sticking. If air is present in the radiator it can't get out, and more coolant can't get in,(from the overflow). Either clean the cap or replace it and check that it is the CORRECT cap.
Radiator fins dirty, clean with a strong stream of water, not high pressure water.
Radiator clogged, have it boiled out, or replace.
Thermostat stuck open or shut, replace it.
Water pump worn out, can no longer move enough coolant, replace it.
Fan shroud broken or missing....
Electric Fan(s) not working, Check the fan, relay, fuse and engine temperature sensor's.
Belt driven fan, belt slipping, fan clutch is bad, fan blades have flattened out.

Also, if the Jeep has A/C and electric fans, one fan is dedicated to the A/C and should come on almost the instant the A/C is turned on. Hope this helps.

1996 jeep cherokee sport with 4.0 does not have a tensioner on the fan belt. How do you change it?

One of the idler pulleys has a built in spring loaded tensioner. You have to use a ratchet to turn it, which relieves tension on the belt while removing and also when replacing the belt.

How long is the fan belt 1986 jeep comanche

That depends on whether you need the fan to ac belt, the fan to alternator belt, or the fan to ps belt.

We need to replace a fan belt that broke. Does

You can do it. If it takes longer than 10 minutes something is wrong. If its a V8 make sure the tensioner is good, Fan belts rarely just "break" so check all the pulleys.

We own a 1996 jeep cherokee country and i need to replace the serpentine belt what is the best way to replace .

pull the electric fan out, then loosen the belt at the idler pulley. note where the old belt runs as you pull it off then put the new one on, I like to start by looping the belt around the alternator first an working from there.

The belt keeps coming off the fan

the only reason for the belt coming off the pulley is the something in the belt path is off aligment.
put the belt back on and chek the path where the belt pass. water pump, alternator, AC compressor, Power steeling unit, etc....... or even the pulley tensioner itself.
chance are there is a belt in the wrong pully slot.

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee : Replaced Water Pump and Drive Belt now Jeep won't start?

When you replaced the Water Pump, did you replace the Timing Belt? Any time you replace a Water Pump you have to replace the timing belt because it stretches out. If you did not then most likely your Engine is out of time and there for will not start, but it will turn over. hope this helps, good luck.
