2002 Mazda Tribute Logo

Have a 2002 Tribute (purchased new). Just bought gas, car idles rough...engine check light is lit (not blinking). Is this a definite sign of water in gas? Didn't use car for two days since snowstorm in our area. Never had a situation like this before...ever...so I'm not familiar with symptoms.

Not necessarily so, It may be the timing "Chain" it may also be a fuel system problem, or ignition system.

If the Check engine light is lit then I would Highly suggest checking what the issue is. Especially if the vehicle is acting in an odd way. you can get this done free at Autozone stores if the individual store offers it..

Honda accord ex 2001 check engine light suddenly came on, car started to idle roughly

If it's running rough, chances are that it's misfiring. If the Check Engine light is flashing/blinking, it is definitely misfiring.
If that's the case, drive it as little as possible... Or straight to the mechanic because the more you drive it while it's misfiring, the higher the chance is of you ruining your catalytic converter.

2002 Mazda Tribute, Check Engine light came on and then it started blinking ... idling faster but does not seem to be other problems.

Stop in at autozone or similar parts store & get free code scan, then see which way to go from there. Cheaper & faster than guessing.

Mazda tribute 2002 stalling

1. will it stay running if you foot is sligtly on the gas.
if so common problem it the IAC valve located on top of the throttle body. it controls ait into the engine when throttle is closed.
2. do you hear loud fog horn like sound or hissing. this could indicate a vaccum leak.
3. are there any performance problems while driving.

my best guess would be the IAC (idle air control) valve
