How do you change the cabin air filter in a 2009 Hyundai Sonta?
The owner's manual instructions are very vague. I am afraid of breaking the clips.

I just did this on our 2007 Sonata. 1. open the glove box. On both sides of the glove box, there is a black tab which prevents the glove box from opening to far. The Chilton manual says to remove these, but that is more difficult then simply pressing inward on the sides of the glove box to release them from the channel. Now the glove box should open even more. Next, remove the piston arm from the right side of the glove box. You can do this by removing the panel on the side of the dash, but you first need to open the passenger door. You can also just use a screwdriver or other tool to slip the piston of without removing the dash side panel. Now with the glove box hanging fully open, you can see the cabin filter box. There are tabs on both sides of the front that you simply press together in order to slide the filter out of the box. This whole process from beginning to end should only take about 10 minutes and is very simple.

I think you may need to chnge your cabin air filter if it smells like mildew or a musty type smell, its located under the hood by the windshield on those I believe.

I have a 2009 V6 Sonata SE with 32000 miles. Do I need to have the transmission fluid and filter changed? If so, what should this cost ? I live in Phoenix Arizona.

Not unless you are having problems now .you have a owners manual ,look in there and see when the manufacturer says that these fluids need to be changed ,You can look at the air filter and see if it needs to be changed .The transmission fluid should be good to go until around 60,000 miles or so .you need to check the level of the fluid on the dip stick ,just to make sure it is no leaking .

Out under the wipers, you have a plastic cover across at the windshield and under the wipers. Plastic tabs hold it in place.

Where can I find the cabin air filter on my 2007 sonata

To change the cabin air filter one needs to remove the glove box first. This is reasonably simple and involves a couple of screws, the rubber glove box limit pads, and a 10mm nut. The air filter is located in the heater assembly directly behind the glove box. The filter is removed by releasing the plastic clip holding the filter and withdrawing the filter forwards. (The filter is installed like a vertical drawer.)

Need to install cabin air filter

If it's anything like my 2005 Tucson all you have to do is open glove box and find the elastic cord that comes from behind glovebox and runs through a hole in the side. Release this cord (just let it go, it won't go anywhere). Drop the glovebox down and you'll see where to replace the filter. There are 2 black clips a little ways in on either side, you have to pinch these and pull on them at the same time. The filter will pull out, replace it, slide back in, then rehook the elastic cord and close glovebox. Done!!!
