Hello Marcias.
Yes, it is OK to have one installed.
Just make sure that when it is that all of the wires are properly soldered and connected.
Have it done by a qualified installer as I have seen some that are poorly installed and can cause some problems.
Your Intrepid may have an antitheft system and would need a module to allow the Autostart to work.
If this is required it would take a little more time to install it.
I have all of my vehicles with them and have caused no problems at all.
If you have any more questions please leave them in "add comments" and I will be back to answer you.
Best of the season to you.

The Ignition and autostart

Sound like a reversal of wires on the autostart. Should only cut out if you don't have the key in ignition and apply brake. Did you have this installed or was it in when you bought the vehicle?

Many autostart devices also have security systems incorperated, first I would try to arm and disarm the system then try to start again. Then check the autostart controll unit to see if there is a reset or fuse. If not a reset often times there is a disable for the autostart witch will allow you to diagnos the starting problem without the aftermarket device. If non of that helps post your next message with an update plus make and model # for the autostart.

2007 mercury montego rear light fuse keeps blowing

You need to be more specific about which rear light blows the fuse(interior, stop or tail). If the car has an aftermarket alarm or autostart I would look there first, they are usually installed poorly and create these types of problems.

Intermittant starting problems

Could be the Crankshaft positioning sensor. Had the same problem with my 2001 DTS. Cost to replace: About $200 from a non-dealer repair shop.
