Running rich i have a 1992 gmc sierra 1500 that is running rich. will not pass inspection. rebuilt throttle body, new 02 sensor, new cat, still running rich. any ideas! check engine light is not on. inspection show it is burning three times as much gas as it should be, and my gas bill shows it.

it is either the throttle position sensor or the idle air control valve

I would check the idle air control valve and the throttle body.
The valve could be faulty or the throttle body could have dirt blocking the air passage.
If you keep the RPM above idle speed does it still stall ?

What engine does it have ? Could be the fuel pressure regulator .

Should be no problem getting it to run, since the point of throttle body originally was to be able to use a carb intake manifold.
However, passing DEQ may be harder to do.
And you may have to use a variable potentiometer to adjust the O2 sensor readings so that the ignition works optimally. Although a 92 may not even have an O2 sensor or electronically controlled timing.
If you want to simplfy ignition as well, you can buy a self contained breakerless distributer. I recently put one on a Chevy engine in a boat for $225.

the bank 2 sensor2 is used to check that your catylitic converter is working on that side of the exhaust. without seeing the car and doing sensor tests, it would be a gamble to say replace the sensor. so you can replace it and see what happens or take it to your favorite shop for further diagnosis

Timing to far advances. It's getting ignition before the valves are closing.

Im not sure if this can help, but my 2000 gmc sierra was idling badly. Replaced Fuel Pressure Regulator and my truck runs like its brand new. My service engine light was also on.

Have you check the injector relay or maybe a fuse for injectors.
