I have a 1987 Cadillac Brougham with a 5.0L engine. Car has a 4BBL carb. I do have the hose diagragm in the engine compartment, but it is not totally helpful in trying to figure out where some of the missing hoses are supposed to go. Does anyone know where i can get a more in depth vacuum hose diagram for this car?

    I have a Haynes manual, but it covers many years of vehicles and has no specific information for my vehicle. I may try going to a dealer and getting better info.

The best thing for you to do is stop by your local Cadillac dealership in the parts department and they be able to print you off pictures and diagrams showing you where they go if all fails stop by your local library and get your hands on a Haynes auto repair manual for your car Merry Christmas & Happy New Year as always wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.

My 87 Cadillac Brougham just started loosing coolant. I check the water pump and the coolant appears around the top and it pours out more when I have the car engine running.
your water pump has a weep hole that is leaking, meaning you will need to replace the water pump.

When was the last time you replaced your plugs, wires, cap and rotor? Cold electrical components perform better than hot ones.

Given the age of the car, the mileage and the way you are using it, I doubt using 10-30 is going to cause any problems. Any long term problem would occur with repeated cold starts when it is very cold (e.g. below -10degC), as the engine would not oil properly. To avoid potential seal problems, I recommend you use a high mileage synthetic.

I called an old mechanic friend who confirmed what I suspected. The engine control module which controls timing was the culprit. I replaced the defective unit, and the car runs like new.
