the ALDL that is in the picture is and OBD2 connector. some cars at this year had gone to OBD2 and some had this connector installed but still used OBD1 connector for codes and data stream. if you have found both then try both.

NO COUNTRY stated, you must state that,
1993 is not a OBD2 car mostly. in any country.
that means it's OBD1 so mfg, puts the DLC where ever it wanted
and did. (huge variances)

real OBD2 connector (USA cars) is just to right of steering
column,at dash edges, TOY cALLS this DLC3 (96 camry)
all scan tools with J1850 Bus work here. (older to newer)

It should fit the connector under the steering column for the engine computer. The connector is shaped so you can only plug the code reader in one way.

on a 99 2.0 model you will have 2 diagnostic ports. both of them will be the fiat 3 pin type.

to connect the 3 pin fiat connector to a 16 pin obd2 connector you need 4 lengths of wire. use 3 lengths of wire to connect the 3 pin connector to the obd connector. also use 1 length of wire for power to the obd connector.

on the 16 pin obd2 connector use the following pins
4- chassis ground (connect to ground on 3 pin connector, or any good chassis earth)
5- signal ground (connect to black wire pin on 3 pin connector)
7- k line (connect to white wire pin on 3 pin connector)
16- 12vDC (connect to battery positive terminal)

You need a OBD2 fault code reader as a minimum tool, the connector you plug it into is under the dash on the drivers side, see picture of standard OBD2 connector below.

lots of times the connectors wear or bend, try pushing on the connector and holding it there while you scan it, you can also test to make sure its getting power at the correct terminal on the obd2 connector.
