You might try removing the battery connectors for five minutes and replacing back.

If the codes do not disappear, please you might have to get a scanner to do that.

Cheers.

2006 Maserati Quattroporte had a oil change done a week ago oil light came on checked dipstick no oil on dipstick does that mean damage to the engine

The oil light will come on if there is no oil or very little oil in the engine. You say you had the oil changed a week ago. Check the oil plug in the engine pan and see if it is very loose or missing.and leaking oil Also check the oil filter to see if it is loose and leaking oil. If you changed the oil using a company then you could have a complaint with them if something is loose or missing. If you changed it yourself you may have to say its a learning experience. Hope you never drove very far with no oil your engine just might be ok.

1987 Toyota Camry 2 liter engine. How much oil do I put in with a change of filter? Thank you.

The safest way to be sure you don't overfill the motor with engine oil is: after draining the oil pan and installing the drain plug, put the new filter on and add three quarts of approved oil to the engine. pull the dipstick and wipe it clean, re-insert and check the accurate oil level. there should be oil either at the very bottom of the dipstick or between two holes or on what looks like a hashmark. if the oil is at the bottom of the dipstick, add one more quart, then start the engine. let it run for about 30 seconds then shut if off. check the dipstick just like before. The oil level should be right at the top oil level mark on the dipstick. It's ok if it is a little low but NOT OK to be above the line or mark.

The oil light stays on

Have you checked the enfine oil dipstick to ensure the oil is at the correct level ? The oil pressure light comes when ther is insufficient oil pressure in the engine. If oil level is OK it could mean several things. They could be a clogged oil filter or a faulty oil pressure switch or worst case a faulty oil pump.

1992 Geo Metro Hatchback

O.K,first don't drive the car with that light on unless absolutely neccessary(as in if you need to get somewhere safe or something).Second, yes you can add oil, 5W30,will be fine (does not matter which brand)but you need to make sure you don't add too much.Look for the oil dipstick under the hood to check the level of oil. There will be some kind of mark on the dipstick to show you where the level shhould be, down towards the end tip of the dipstick. There may be 2 dipsticks under the hood,1 for oil and 1 for transmission fluid so make sure yourr looking at the right one.Hope this helps.good luck.

How much New oil should i put in to my 1992 Suzuki Sierra 4x4 Cheers Neil B

First make sure your drain plug and filter are installed and tight, then add 2 liters of oil and check to see if there is any showing on the dipstick. Add one liter at a time and recheck the dipstick. Bring the level up to the full mark on the dipstick. Now start the engine and observe the oil light(turn off) or pressure gauge(pressure goes up) then turn off engine. If neither happens after about 10 seconds, shut off engine and check for leaks or other malfunctions. If all is O.K. then recheck oil level on dipstick. It should be somewhere between the upper and lower level, usually indicated by crosshatch marking. Add oil to bring oil level to full mark. Small amount at a time. Most small vehicles only take about 3.5 to 4 liters.

I have a 2000 vw beetle.  this morning the check engine light came on and i drove it about 60 miles today.  when i got home, i checked the oil, and it is EXTREMELY low on the dipstick.  i looked underneath...

Yes you can add oil as you go. this will be fine. Just dont make a habit of it as you can never tell where your oil level is without looking at the dipstick.
