Vibration coming from the floor area at stopped position. it goes away somewhat if i shift inot nuetral but is still noticable. I have had all 2 motor mounts and the trans mount replaced to try to fix this. they were originals anyway. thanks for any suggestions

Thanks for the help. It is an autmatic trans. The only thing i could say is it feels like the longer i am at a stop, the more profound the vibration. I will do as you suggest and maybe we can spot something loose under the vehicle and also check the exhaust mounts. I almost get the feeling something is gonna fall off. Will let you know what i find under there.
Thanks again. I wasnt expecting a suggestion so quick. Being un-employed now for almost a year in Michigan your help is really appreciated.

Vibration ...have a 2nd person start the vehicle and visually look under the vehicle while the car is in drive and brake applied ...unless its Manuel shift then i would suggest something of a different procedure to testing ...are all the exhaust mounts secure..something rubbing on the firewall to cause this ,would you care to elaborate any more ..

My car makes a droning or humming sound around 2000 rpm along with vibration but it goes away as soon as I increase the speed or come to a stop.

could be the timing belt tensioner. with the timing casing removed place a socket extension bar on some metal then to your ear as it will help you locate the noise. be careful tho. failing that big end shells i would check. hope this helps

I have a 1992 Jeep wrangler and i don't know how to switch from 2hi to 4hi or 4low. Can someone help me out?

well do you have a switch or push button selector or a actual floor shifter? Ok, when you are driving you can and only should shift from 4 hi to 2 hi and 2 hi to 4 hi at any speed as long as tires are not spinning and you are not on the gas. when shifting, release gas pedal slightly and shift. do not shift lets say when you are taking off at a light, this would be under power and will do damage to drivetrain. also you can shift at any time while vehicle is at a stop position. Now when shifting into 4 lo the vehicle must be stopped and should be put in nuetral and when shifting out of 4 lo the vehicle must be stopped and in nuetral also as to not damage drivetrain. Never drive faster than 25 mph in 4 lo as you will damage drivetrain. When i say shift i mean either push the button to 2 hi or 4 hi or turn selector knob to position desired, or push , pull shift lever on floor to desired position. I dont know what your set up is . but they all use the same instructions as how to shift the 4x4 selections

Vibration through the car Transmission-motor Linkage?

Check to make sure both headlights are tight,,,when it rattles at idle go feel the headlight and hold it and see if the noise and vibration goes away, sometimes the headlight has too much clearance and causes a massive vibration,,if thats not it try...loosening all the motor mounts and rock the car back and forth and them retighten them,it reseetles the mounts and sometimes fixes the issue,,also check the lower engine and trans mounts for wear.
