It takes 4 hours to replace a water pump because I replaced one and if you don't know what your doin don't try it cause the timin belt has to come off and all the timing gears and get it back in Time if you don't get it back in time it will not run
termostat is on the engine block on the bottom rad hose. yes under the engine on the right side of the car when facing from the front to the rear. youre welcome marc godin.
i do not know, but stop using the car until you fix it. If you overheat the turbo, it will be damaged beyond repair, and it is extremely costly to substitute.
We just did the same car with the same prob. The block was cracked and was pressurizing the cooling system causing the thermostat not to open. Remove your thermostat and run the car if it doesn't overheat you need a motor. Ours didn't show any hydrocarbons in the coolant either, so try the simple
Usually the main reason for a Subaru to over heat is a blown head gasket. If it is pushing fluid out through the overflow bottle. I would suspect a blown head gasket.
When a car overheats it's rarely the thermostat. They just don't go bad that often. If it overheats when you idle a lot, it's the fan and with electric fans, it's almost always the fan motor. But to find the thermostat, follow the top radiator hose to the engine and there it is.
I have a 95 Legacy Wagon and by the shop manual the therostat sets on the bottom of the water pump. It is accessed from the bottom of engine by 2 bolts that hold the lower hose on.
