All wheel drive is a misleading name. in reality the engine sends power from the wheels that grip to the wheel that slips.I found this out when I got stuck in my wife's 97 legacy.
The differentials are not limited slip and the transfer case has a set up similar to the differentials that sends power to either the front or back. this allows the power to be sent to the wheel that is spinning thus leaving one stranded in a foot of snow that my 78 vette can drive threw like its not there. the vette has a limited slip differential

My 2007 Chevrolet Impala has some rear suspension problem. First noticed on snowy/icy road conditions traveling at 50 mph, the car was swaying, fish tailing with no traction. Later noticed when driving...

Replace rear shock absorbers.
Their function is to maintain contact between tires and floor. When they are worn the wheels spend too much time in the air without any traction.

ICV WARNING LIGHTS IS ON IN MY 2010 NISSAN MAXIMA

Are you check the Owners Manual ? This warning actually spells ICY... and it is an automatic indicator to warn of ICY roads and weather conditions.

The word ICY means that temperatures outside are near or below freezing. Its a warning for possible icy conditions on the road. Its a feature that comes with your trip computer along with the temperature gauge.

Hope this helps.

The ABS light comes on, and sure enough on slipery road conditions, there's no ABS. BUT when it's icy, the ABS light on the dashboard goes out, and checking to see if I have ABS, sure enough I do. It's...

the abs warning light also works with the electronic traction control, (or traction control, same system, different names) and when icy, stops the wheels from spinning, above about 15 mph.(the abs dont work under 5mph) so if im right regarding your question, your car is doing what its supposed to,stopping the driving wheels from spinning/locking up.the warning light comes on when one or the other is doing its job.(working).the trick is to drive so that the warning light doesnt come on..... boring.

Should you disable the traction control on a 2006 Ford Explorer when driving on snowy roads at a speed of 35-40 mph?

the role of the Electronic Control System is to avoid wheel spinning on icy or 'snowed' surfaces. When the system that one wheel having traction is spinning faster than the others than it will apply brake to that particular wheel to help it to recover its traction.
In the reality, the system is more active when you are accelerating after a stop on icy surface. Once the vehicule got its speed the system should be less active .
Globally, this system should help to keep the traction at its best under any condition.
However, my personnal experience is that you could have to desactivate the system if you are driving in heavy snow condition. Under these particular conditions, the system could apply brakes to a point/frequency that your vehicule will run as a turtle.

In conclusion, there is nothing bad if you let the system manage by itself, unless you don't like the feeling or unless the system generates more problems than benefits.
Hope I have ansered your questionning.
