My 2000 Montana gauge is showing that's over heating even when it's driven a short distance and when driven on the freeway it's not smelling like its over heating or there no steam coming

If the gas gauge does not work correctly and the temp gauge reads hot, you could have a problem with the instrument panel.
Both gauges get power from the same circuit, but each gauge is grounded by its own sending unit.
If the temp gauge is reading correctly, you could have air in the cooling system and it is not actually full of liquid coolant.

Ignition alarm

I would say the switch is what you talking about
replacing,not the key cylinder

Never a simple solution to finding any problem, unless
the person working on the car gets lucky or has a sense

"1999 Buick Century" unknown dinging draining

It's probably your ignition not being exactly disconnected when you remove the key.Until you get a new ignition (keyswitch),just jiggle the switch with your fingers after you remove the ke7y and see if the dinging stops. my Aerostar has that problem right now. don-ohio

Gauges go crazy while driving

Sounds like a faulty body control module, or the forward control module. Possibly the cluster is going bad. Is it still under warranty? Take it to the dealer, which you may have to do anyway.

Transmission problem ? Dash gauges

Ignition switch and wire harness for ignition switch. My husband did both. I was losing dash gauges intermittently and overdrive. Now that is fixed and six months later looks like I need the multi function switch(turn signal, wipers, cruise lever). My husband has to take that all apart again for this problem. My turn signal blinker noise won't shut off. Driving me crazy.
