1998 Jeep cherokee just shuddered and died when i was backing out. Possible crankshaft positioning sensor or fuel pump?? For the past week it would give me troubles starting it. It would shudder and turn over and when it first started i would give it gas until it was warmed up.

You need to check to things out,
first is fuel pressure at thr fuel rail reed valve, you need at least 50psi for the injectors.
second have someone check the engine temp switch,to see what temp it is telling the computer your engine is.
if it tells the computer your engine temp is 65 degrees, the computer will not push as much fuel to thru injectors, when your engine is cold the computer needs to know how rich to make it for cold starts

U need to check the crankshaft position sensor. The fuel pump will only have power for 2 seconds I till it sees a crank signal. It' controls the asd relay which turns on your spark and fuel

See if you can hear your fuel pump go on when you first turn your key if not replace it. It should have a humming noise when you first turn your key.

During driving and ideling the engine simply dies,

sounds like your crankshaft sensor is faulty.I would change that first.
