I would start, since it is cold outside by checking to make sure the battery is in good shape. If it is not, it will run but when the cold comes it will eventually not turn over. Note: Turning on the lights to see if they are bright is not a good check for the batteries abilty to crank the car. If you have a Checker or Autozone or other auto parts store see if they can test your battery for you.

With the sudden stop starting I would also suspect possibly the fuel pump or the pump relay.

Good Luck...

Anyone any ideas for my toyota celica 2.0 gt have

Hello, and welcome to FixYa. Please allow us to assist you.

Sounds to us like you may have a timing belt that has jumped a tooth or two. Here is a good way to check to see if this is indeed the case.

Crank the engine until the timing mark on the crankshaft pulley is at TDC, the zero mark. Next, remove the distributor cap, and note where the rotor is pointing. It should be directly under the tower for the number one cylinder. If it is not directly under #1, the belt has jumped time, and a new belt will be required.

Thanks for choosing FixYa today.

You can try this.
Turn on the key and listen for the fuel pump to prime.
It will sound like a gentle hum. when it stops, turn the key off. wait a few seconds and do it again. Do this three or four times, but don't try to start it. after the third or fourth time you turn it off, try to start it. It may not be priming the fuel injectors fast enough.

Someone tampered with my electrical system

I understand your problem. I own a 1992 celica and someone broke the hood latch and stole the cold air intake i had on it and all the fuses under the hood. you need to look in the distributor and find the ignition coil. it runs all the electrical eqipment. if it is burnt of cracked, replace it. they cost around $48-$55 bucks and if the ignitor is faulty it will shake when you get up to speed and make things blink and **** out on you. try that and see if that works.
