There will be a switch on the gearbox with wires connected, get under your vehicle and check there are no loose wires

Check the reverse sensor on the trans. Or it may be on the shifter.

Open your rear light assemblies and check the bulbs - replace them if necessary - it is common for both to blow at once even though it seems like too much of a coincidence.

If the bulbs are fine, check your fuse box/boxes for blown fuses. Replace as necessary.

Check all your other lights as well.

If none of this helps, you might want to check the connections and wiring for faults. If you have a faulty connection, you need to repair or reconnect it.

Good luck,
Sherwin

Sounds like a wiring problem. Try checking the fuses at your own risk.

My reverse lights don't work on my 2000 323CI 5 speed BMW when in gear

The fuse holder contains 10A fuse F27 which supplies power to the reversing light switch. When you shift into reverse with the engine running, the switch closes and the back up lights turn on. If the fuse is OK, you may have a defective switch

My 97 Mazda mpv van reverse light does not come on when in reverse

Hi Kauhanebk, First thing to do is check the bulbs. If they are both okay check the fuse. After doing that if they still don't work look for broken cables and open circuits. If still no results check the reverse light switch. If it needs replacement, be very observant when removing it as there may be a ball bearing inside the housing to give the extra reach needed for operation. Regards John
