thanks. kind of did that. there is a throttle by pass valve ( part# e7839c915ca) mounted on the fire wall that the vacuum passes through with voltage.tested and has 12v. is there a way to test that to see if this could be the problem? going out and check other little line that go to this item and back to the plenum. THANKS

Check vacum at brake booster if you have vacum there bad brake booster, if you don't follow vacum line check there, vacum line should go to intake, if you do have vacum replace vacum hose.

Brakes on 96 cheverolet go to floor on start up

Well it could be the booster but your symptoms don't really match it.
If the booster were leaking vac, the engine should be running faster than normal. And probably rough. And your effort to push on the pedal would be harder without the vac assist.
Usually when the pedal goes to the floor the system is out of fluid or the master cylinder is faulty.

I have 2 larger f series ford diesels. Both have the Bendix Convac vacuum pump, both are broken/leaking oil. Neither truck needs vacuum to assist the brakes (1 air brakes, 1 hydromax assist) but both...

When you say airbrakes, do you mean that the vehicle has airbrakes, or does it have hydraulic brakes with a vacuum brake booster? As far as replacing it with a 12v vac pump, there might be some DOT regulations prohibiting this as it involves safety issues. If one has the vac booster, it is leaking brake fluid and not oil. The hydrovac booster will leak either as it uses power steering fluid from the P/S pump to do the job.

I need a new brake booster for my 89 LeSabre T Type. I i don't know if I need the entire thing or just the cylinder. I have no pressure with my brakes, even with the brake fluid full. I know i have a leak...

booster rarely go bad and when they do they make a vacuum sound in the car see if vac hose is going to booster from top back of engine 2 booster if that is got vac . but the leak in the brake line is a bigger danger and you cannot diagnose the master or booster with out fixing that leak first &bleading the brakes

My car runs good but has no power ,sounds like a vac problem!

the one thing i use is carburetor cleaner ,spray it at the vacuum lines and the throttle body plate as you do it you will see a change in idle if you spray the bad leak area.but if the leak is that loud it could be coming from the brake booster line or brake booster itself.hope this helps you.

Leaking brake fluid

Power boosters don't have fluid in them. This sounds more like your master cylinder is leaking out the back were it joins the booster. Replace the master cylinder, and while you have it off, remove all the excess fluid out of the booster that you can using only towels.

Have to press hard on breaks to break on 528i bmw 2000

sounds like brake booster not working
check vacuum hose that goes to booster is ok and not leaking
engine off
pump up brake pedal several times
hold brake pedal down
start engine
pedal should sink down approx half to 3/4 way down indicating booster is working
if pedal doesnt go down when engine is running booster has leak or no vacuum supply from engine which requires great pedal effort to try and get vehicle to stop.

Constantly refilling brake fluid reservoir, can not find leak

this is not an uncommon problem.
if you are certain there are no fluid leaks anywhere in the system then look here.

the master cylinder is mounted to the power brake booster there are probably two or three nuts holding them together, remove these nuts and pull the master cylinder forward, now look in to the front of the power booster with a flash light, if you see any signs of brake fluid there than your master cylinder is bad. you want to correct this soon because that fluid is being sucked into the egine and through the combustion chambers. you should replace the power booster as well because it will be contaminated, although you can reuse the power booster untill it fails, i believe there is a gasket or o-ring in between the master cylinder and power booster aswell, make sure you look for it and dont leave it out.

good luck
