Hello! There are a couple of items to check before you invest in a new pump; Check the fuel pump fuse...Also. there is a device (look for location in owners manual) called a inertia fuel pump switch. It activates if you "bump" or someone "bumps you.It is designed to kill the fuel pump in the event of a collision. It, I believe, is located inside the car on the drivers side. It has a red button on top that needs to be reset. If not inside look under the hood; it is easy to locate, just look for a bright red button. The 2000 Volkswagen line has had problems with this switch opening up on it's own. If this switch, when reset, solves the problem buy a new switch. It cost around $75 and may be called "fuel pump cut-off switch". If none of these items clear your fault then change the fuel pump; And a fuel filter.

When you rate this solution please leave a short note to let me know how you did.

Check there is power going to the pump, an immobiliser fault would stop that. If there is, take the pump out, you should be able to get it out under the rear seat and check theres fuel in it. A faulty sender unit could show fuel in the tank when there isn't any. Also check that when you flick the ignition you can hear the pump priming itself. If it keeps pointing towards feul pump then it will end up just being conclusive and you have to bite the bullet and buy one.

Idles fine but spudders bad and wants to die when driveing

Sounds like your Plamath gasket. If its a Fuel injector system. Also could be a bad fuel pump not providing enough gas at high RPM.

1990 Jackaroo has a fuel problem that has me stumped, while driving and you accelerate even a little bit and the motor almosts chokes and loses all power, but while idling it will rev up well and idles...

1990 Jackaroo has a fuel problemThis is usually due to fuel starvation.
  1. Replace the fuel filter.
  2. You can check if the fuel pump is working when you disconnect the filter hose.
  3. Place something under the filter and the disconnected hose and get somebody to turn the ignition switch to the on position
  4. The fuel should be pumped through the hose that is connected to the back of the car.
  5. If the front hose is disconnected the fuel flow will be minimal or none at all.
  6. When you put the new filter in make sure the flow arrow is pointing the same way as the old filter was.
  7. If no arrow is visible connect the (Front is " < " this part of the arrow) and (Back is Shaft / Straight part of the arrow)
  8. The Front of the filter should be pointed to the front of the car
  9. the Back of the filter should be connected to the hose that is connected to the fuel tank.
If there is no petrol being pumped out when the filter is disconnected, this usually means that the fuel pump is not working and needs to be replaced.

1998 Dodge Caravan. engine dies and wont start. fuel pump was changed twice but i get a few miles & dies again & wont start. im thinkin fuel filter is plugged....

It might be your fuel filter. Also, Dodge and Chrysler is bad for fuel pump failures. A clogged fuel filter can cause this. Also, you might not be getting enough fuel pressure. There should be a test port on the van, where you can test the gas pressure. You also have a fuel pump relay or switch. This could be bad as well. Hope this helps you.

2000 s10 extreme died while i was driving it was wierd

It is either a bad sensor or plugged fuel filter. Very possible it is the throttle position sensor or leaky injector. Most likely bad sensor.. If check engine light is on, than surely bad sensor.
