The belt tensioner on the 4.6 Modular Engine is not adjustable. Are you sure you have the correct length belt installed?

I have a 1998 crown victoria and I done replaced both pulleys and belt on it and it still squeaks real loud, even when i give it more gas ,what else could it be

A squeaking or squealing sound from a car's belt can often mean that the belt tensioning needs adjusting. Often this is done by adjusting the alternator. I don't know for your particular car, but I would check a service manual for that.

Belt tensioner release

There is a square hole in the tensioner pulley arm. Use a 1/2" breaker bar inserted into the hole to rotate the tensioner to relieve the tension on the serpentine belt.

HOW TO PUT A BELT ON A 1998 CROWN VICTORIA

  • I have posted the diagram you need to reference. In red I have indicated the tension pulley.
  1. Take a socket and ratchet (breaker bar works best) or a wrench and put it on the bolt of the tension pulley.
  2. Now you want to tug to the left until the tension on the belt loosens and then carefully let the tension pulley go back to it's normal position.
  3. Now take the old belt and compare it to the new belt. Make sure the tracks, length and width match up.
  4. Put the new belt on on the pulleys as indicated in the diagram leaving the tension pulley for last.
  5. Now put your ratchet or wrench back on the pulley and pullback on it again and put the belt on it.
  6. Now start the engine and inspect the belts rotation.
  7. If the old belt did not completely snap the I would throw it in the trunk. It beats sitting on the side of the road sometime should the new belt break.
  8. That's it, job complete.

It is possible that your tensioner pulley is seized and will have to be replaced as well. This happened to my 2001 F-150, the tensioner pulley seized and shredded the serpentine belt.

Sounds like someone rigged this when replacing the belt previously. The 'old school' way would be to unbolt the compressor to slide on the belt.
