Question about 2005 Volkswagen Passat
Check contacts for the circuit in the rear window. You should be able to disconnect them on the right hand rear quarter or the car I think, may also be left I can't remember. Seen a few of the play up due to a bad connection there, also door locks and very common and can cause this sort of fault. Also check all windows are closing correctly and bonnet is latching correctly

If I stand correct the security system when functioning when remote locking is executed the horn and parking lights should sound and flash once unless there is an open door, hood, trunk lid and the lights would flash but no horn confirmation (beep) Does this happen when manual locking the car with the door lock mechanism?

Hi, passats of your cars year suffer from water leaking into the car from the heater inlet ducting mounted forward of the windscreen on the N/S. This contaminates a number of multiplug wiring connections mounted inside the car to the left of the passenger side footwell (behind the plastic kickpanel). Remove the panel and inspect each of the multiplugs by pulling them apart. Any connections affected buy water ingress and corrosion should be cleaned with contact cleaner and treated with water repellant spray (WD40 etc). To affect a permanent repair the heater ducting/inlet box will need to be removed and sealed - probably a garage job.
Hope that helps Matt...
